Studio 99 is partnering with Netflix, in association with Ventureland, on a definitive documentary series about the life and career of David Beckham.

The series will go beyond the shine of stardom to explore Beckham’s humble working class upbringing in East London which inspired his drive to become one of the most recognisable, yet equally scrutinised, athletes of all time.

Academy Award-winning director Fisher Stevens (Palmer, And We go Green) and Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning producer John Battsek (One Day in September, Searching for Sugar Man) will tell Beckham’s story through never-before-seen personal archive footage and interviews with David Beckham plus the people integral to his journey, both on and off the pitch.

Edited by Chris King (Senna, Amy) and Bjorn Johnson (Don’t F**k With Cats, Bad Sport) with cinematography by Tim Cragg (Three Identical Strangers, Billie).
